The goal of medical nutrition therapy is to prevent the risk of malnutrition, delayed growth and development associated with elimination of certain foods or food groups from a child's diet. The core components of therapy include: nutritional status assessment and diagnosis, goal setting, meal planning, problem solving, monitoring, and evaluation.
